Invitation to comment: Chipping Sodbury/Barnhill Quarry Foodstore and Housing Development proposals (PK10/1675/0)

Patrick Conroy, Spatial Planning Team Manager for South Gloucestershire Council would like to advise that the 'Chipping Sodbury/Barnhill Quarry Foodstore and Housing Development' proposals are now the subject of a planning application (PK10/1675/0).

All consultation comments can be e-mailed to: planningapps@southglos.gov.uk

Patrick Conroy has advised that consultation comments received at this e-mail address will be directed to the development control case officer who is handling this application. Also, he advises that any comments received will be acknowledged and passed to the case officer dealing with the planning application.

  1. Are residents aware that flooding has already affected the area of St John’s Way to the point that some residents had to park their vehicles in other streets nearby? The prospect of building more houses and another new superstore which will connect with and use the existing infrastructure makes me wonder what will happen to our streets when the rain arrives.

    It seems to me that little thought has been given to the potential problems we might face in the future. Is anyone taking ownership for ensuring that residents are protected from the effects of large building developments. Can our planners guarantee that residential homes are not at risk from flooding with such a development? What is being done to protect residents from localised flooding, regardless of whether developments take place or not? Can such a large development really be justified?
